For anyone else experiencing similar problems with Gmail, after some research online I discovered that the Remember The Milk task manager plugin for Gmail was causing a 707 error on every action, this can be resolved by temporarily disabling RTM in the firefox extension manager until RTM deliver a fix for this problem, there is no mention on the RTM blog as of yet as to when the issue will be resolved.
